benifits of being a carer
I can agree on the enjoyment and benifits of being a carer in NZ you form a close relationship with the person you are caring for and have a special bond also a friendship can can last a lifetime.

caregiver
I have had the enriching experience of being a support worker for many ages and needs I have found I have learnt things about myself like strengths and empathy.
I have worked and supported many cultures and have found the interchange rewarding.
Yes there have been a few not so nice people who only treat you as a maid or slave but 80% of the time this wont happen.
Hard work and reliability are keys to being a great support worker and I'd say being objective and observant are keys as well.
As I have damaged my back lifting and cleaning jobs have become non happening now for me.
I hope to branch out into caring for special needs children in the future.
I take my hat off to fellow support workers who put themselves out for others. It takes a rare talent that no secondary or uni education can hand out on paper.

caregiving for the elderly, Most rewarding profession out there
I have found that being a caregiver to the elderly a very rewarding, and enriching occupation. i have made so many wonderful elderly friends...caring for the terminally ill is hard, but i would not wish to be doing anything else, just to sit with them while they sleep, and them opening their eyes to make sure you are there, is great. I had not worked for 22 years, started caregiving about 2 1/2 yrs ago, so sorry I did not start earlier. I have done level 1 and 2 of the career force qualifications, busy with level 3 now.
