Individualised Funding Scheme Expansion Programme - Background
The Individualised Funding Scheme (IF) established by the Ministry of Health 2004 enables people with physical, intellectual or sensory impairment to directly manage the resources they are allocated for disability support. Entry to the scheme is following an assessment and referred by a needs assessment and service co-ordination (NASC) organisation. As a result of a review of IF completed in 2008, and endorsed by the Government response to report of the Social Services Select Committee on it inquiry in to the quality of care and services provision for people with disabilities (2009).
