Bay of Plenty Health and Disability Services surveyThe Bay of Plenty District Health Board are currently running a survey to find out how accessible and useable the health and disability services they fund in the Bay are for people with disabilities. They are asking providers for their feedback but up2date want to hear from people with disabilities, their families and whanau of your experience. The services they seek information on are everything from Hospital services, outpatients, Home care services, Needs Assessment services and more. The types of questions they ask are. Is the information you receive clear and useful, are services accessible and welcoming, do your needs get met by the services offered, do you know what service and support is available and do your have advice on what could be improved. Up2date has made an initial report from what people have told us but we want to hear from you. You are not required to give your personal details and any given will be kept confidential. The Belonging InitiativeThe Belonging Initiative is a community development partnership between four small agencies, Parent & Family Resource Centre Inc., Standards Plus, Parent to Parent and Family Action Support Team Inc. This initiative is part of an approach to build a co-operative movement for the development of innovative service models in New Zealand that will support families of disabled people. The Belonging Initiative is deeply committed to helping people build an inclusive lifestyle in a home and community of that person’s choice.The Belonging Initiative has four bold and innovative project streams. 1) Support Circles - A Facilitator of Support Circles to work alongside and with families and young people with a disability to develop and sustain Support Circles. 2) Publication of stories from New Zealand families who have established Family Governed and innovative solutions for their disabled family member that demonstrates the ‘what’s possible’. This book is due for release later in 2009 3) Workshops series in Auckland & Palmerston Nth– Crafting A Future weekend for families with a disabled family member who are seeking strategies for a better life. 4) Belonging Initiative Conference 2010 - “No One Alone” watch out for more information on this Conference for 2010. |
