Halberg Trust Activity Fund

Funding for Inclusive Sports

The Halberg Trust Activity Fund provides grants to enable young people with a disability to participate in inclusive sport and active leisure within their community.

The main goal is to support activities that are regular, ongoing, build skills and confidence, remove barriers and are fun!

The Activity Fund is one example of the Trust’s commitment to getting more people with a disability the opportunity to be more active, more often.

The Trust’s major initiative is the Halberg Trust Sport Opportunity Programme. The programme is delivered by Sport Opportunity Advisers who work within the Regional Sports Trusts located throughout New Zealand. The Advisers and Regional Sports Trust staff work together to achieve the programme’s goals.

The programme, which started in June 2000, is all about encouraging and enabling people with a disability to participate with their peers in an inclusive environment as they develop within a sporting or recreational pathway.
