Wellington![]() Holiday Inn, Wellington75 Featherston Street, Wellington, 6000Hotel Reservations: 0800 154 181 Hotel Front Desk: 64-4-4998686 Hotel Fax: 64-4-4983763 Email: res@holidayinnwellington.co.nz http://www.holidayinnwellington.co.nz/ This is a really great place to stay if you want to be city centre and walk around. The staff are all great when it comes to assisting people with disabilities and were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately this hotel doesn’t have accessible rooms with twin beds, only doubles but they did provide us with a very comfortable roll out bed which was standard height and size of a single bed and there was enough room to accommodate both beds. The really handy thing is even though this hotel has a superb restaurant the rooms also have cooking facilities, microwave, hobs and toaster etc which can really help the long stayers or those who wanna sleep in and miss breakfast downstairs. They have meeting rooms, a swimming pool and gym and are handy to local attractions and facilities. As I said great restaurant with an amazing menu, however the restaurant is a little tight for room, but doable if you ask for a good spot. Kingsgate Portland Hotel, WellingtonPhysical Address: 24 Hawkestone Street, Thorndon, WellingtonPostal Address: Po Box 12442, Wellington Phone: (04) 473 2208 Fax: (04) 473 3892 http://www.portlandhotel.co.nz/ This is a hotel in Thorndon which I frequent for business, it is a really friendly hotel who are willing to assist whenever needed. It has a number of accessible rooms on each floor close to the lift and can be configured to 2 singles or double bed as required. It is also possible to open a door to adjoining room if travelling with an assistant. The sleeping area is fairly small but the bathroom is twice the size. It has a wet area shower with sliding shower head and wall seat or proper shower chair with arms, which is height adjustable is available. Space beside toilet is tight but has got handrails and a sink close by. Room rates are good, restaurant and conference rooms on site so no need to go far. Brentwood Airport Hotel, Wellington

With this hotel mostly being on the ground floor the ease of access is refreshing. All the access units are older in decor but massive in space. With a double bed and a single and still a massive amount of room it is really comfortable.
There is 2 chairs and a coffee table, a desk which contains a large flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facilities, and room for a computer for business needs. There is a door to an outside table and chairs but unfortunately this isnt accessible - a step out. The bathroom has a wet area shower with sliding shower head. There are L Shape rails in shower and beside the toilet. The bathroom sink is not ideal for access due to the built in surround. There is an onsite restaurant and bar and conference rooms and facilities which can cater for a large crowd.
